Continuing their 10th anniversary celebrations in style, the Parisian label Record Makers are proud to announce a birthday concert in Los Angeles on Sept. 30, 2010 at the El Rey Theater.
Along with this event, Record Makers are preparing their first ever art show at the Urban Outfitters gallery on Sept. 29, featuring work by the amazing artists, whose contributions have proved vital to the visual world of Record Makers.
After the release of a free iPhone application along with a special digital compilation earlier this year to commemorate a decade in existence, now it's the time for artists to gather and perform!
The Sept 30 El Rey show will be the occasion to showcase Record Makers' finest talents on an exciting bill.
Sébastien Tellier will take a break from recording his highly anticipated new album to join the stage in LA for his first appearance since last summer! Who knows what he will perform? The idea of jazz versions of his repertoire with his LA friends was proposed, he might be in the mood for playing some new songs as well...
Kavinsky is also interrupting recording sessions for his debut album to play one of his funk fueled and futuristic DJ sets. He will probably play the heavy metal version of his recent hit, Nightcall, which he personally selected as the winner in a remix contest, totaling 533 entries!
Acid Washed will be performing their modern disco for the first time in California. Their superb live show visually designed by the creator of kraftwerk.com, Anthony Burrill, is gaining critical acclaim from all around the world..
Turzi's psychedelic aesthetics may find some new fans in LA, where he will be performing for the first time as well. His show will be solo, surrounded by synchronized vintage keyboards and a mindblowing lightshow.

The iPhone application was developed by Sam Vermette (iDaft) and conceived by French contemporary artists Mrzyk & Moriceau. The idea behind the application is to provide the user with a surrealistic visual game, an exquisite corpse in the vein of French surrealism. The introduction theme comes courtesy of label figurehead, Sébastien Tellier, with Mr Oizo on hand to provide the noises for this eccentric game of mix and match. Unreal graphics appear on your screen, that you can send to your friends at the touch of a button. Find the winning combinations and you can win a trip for two to Paris for Record Makers' anniversary celebrations in October, as well as the entire Record Makers discography !

The compilation, entitled “Ten Years“ (available on itunes only), acts as a whirlwind tour through the Record Makers catalogue, providing the listener with an array of original tracks and remixes. It serves as a thrilling demonstration of the diversity of the label : a cinematic journey where the dark, brooding electro of Kavinsky meets the Detroit techno of Arpanet, the folky field-pop of Damien sits alongside the luxurious compositions of Sébastien Tellier, the self-styled rock ‘camembert’ of Turzi collides with the space-disco of Acid Washed. As well as collaborations between labelmates, the sterling remix package includes contributions from the likes of Boys Noize, Mr.Oizo, Aeroplane, MF Doom and SebastiAn to name but a few.

Whilst we’re in the birthday mood, Record Makers is prouder still to announce the creation of a sister label called COCO and Co., an online singles club showcasing new artists alongside our favourite content from the world of music, art and fashion. In addition to this, a new company focusing on film production, entitled EYE CANDY, is in the offing.
